No. Even big producing fields like Ghawar in Saudi Arabia are seeing production declines. Demand will continue to outpace supply and the price will rise and rise and rise . . .

Maybe. Oil production is hitting its peak with the downward curve soon to follow. All the while world demand will continue to climb - driven by China. Prices will continue to rise as the margin disappears but in theory this should force a decrease in demand eventually, something already happening in the U.S., which much later would cause prices to decline. A long expensive road ahead.

Yes. The price will probably be higher, but in another 10 years there should be some serious research and development in place for alternatives. I think oil consumption will gradually lower as prices get higher, subsidies are removed, and alternatives become available at an affordable price.

Ten years? Today reserves and production capacity are not meeting demand and the excess demand is driving prices up.

Demand from Asia, especially China, will continue to increase sharply. In order for supply to be able to meet demand 10 years from now, prices will have to be much higher than they are now, thus slowing the increase in demand.

We are reaching a peak in world production soon. The demand is being met now but the prices will keep increasing as the margin dwindles.

The demand can never lastingly exceed supply. Prices will make sure that this balance is established. How high do prices have to go to change a yes vote to a no vote?

The reserves may meet demand but the price will be tremendously high. The industry is rapidly approaching peak oil, so with rising demand, the price will skyrocket.

Thanks thinkaboutit I forgot about the oil fields that had to be abandoned in Venezuela and the Former Soviet Union, not to mention that in Africa which is where a majority of oil comes from as it has alot of rigs located there but the workers for the oil companies are kidnapped ALOT as the local peoples demand that the oil companies give more money for the land and oil they are using.

The oil majors, including Exxon Mobil, were unable to increase their production in recent years (not counting mergers or acquisitions). In the old days, they said the price was too low to warrant investment into new exploration. Now, they say it is because of no good prospects are left in "friendly" territories, and breached contracts (e.g., Venezuela, former Soviet Union) in other regions. They will be selling oil (and other stuff like biofuels) in 2030, but less than in 2007!

Exxon says we have enough oil to pass the year 2030, however I wonder exactly how much of that is able to be obtained from the ground and processed easily (you know how "SWEET" it is) as that will cause the price to go up.
