That question was asked in the 1970's and we were told that by the late 1980's we would have to be using something else.

That should mean that over the next 100 years we will have enough to meet demand.

Of course, at $50 a gallon, there won't be much demand and a lot of supply.

No I think rising demand across the globe is outpacing production capacity. World Oil production is peaking so unless they find some major new fields, prices will continue to be high and there will be a shortfall in the future.

Clearly not enough crude for business as usual, which calls for over 1 million barrels per day increase of worldwide consumption. With production from existing mature fields dropping 1 million barrels each year (all worldwide data), business as usual would require a new additional Saudi Arabia (10 million new barrels a day) every 5 years (or add the equivalent of additional current US crude oil production every 3 years). That will not happen!
